Pokemon OC: Yejide and Xerxes by ky-nim Pokemon OC: Yejide and Xerxes by ky-nim
Together, they bring balance.

Until I know the story for Pokemon XY I kinda wanna withold some of the info about their personalites. But I think the picture can say some things about them as a couple Yes they are married

Yejide is Xerneas, and Xerxes is Yveltal. Their name meanings are pretty cool

I find it funny how though Gen 6 is supposed to be in Europe (very crowded and civilized), but in this drawing it seems as if they are African American. :D

There are loads of Afro-Carribeans in Europe, especially in France, and they are plenty civilized. <<

Just because the game is stereotypical, doesn't mean that every fan-artist has to follow the canon to a T.
People around the world are genetically and ethnically diverse, so the artist felt comfortable putting their own interpretation out there.
It's all good. =)

I've heard theories that they're supposed to represent the x and y coordinates, and that there'll be a third Pokemon representing the z coordinate.

But I'm not sure about that. In the physical world, the only difference between x and z is your perspective of them.

This is amazing i cant stop looking :iconhypnotizedplz: *shot*

on a separate note:
Groudon/Kyogre = land/sea
Dialga/Palkia = time/space
Reshiram/Zekrom = truth/ideals
what do you think Xerneas and Yveltal embody?
my guess is light and dark.

Actually, it's all but stated that they're meant to be life and death/destruction, respectively, with Zygarde as a balance between the two~ :3 They're also heavily inspired by figures in Norse mythology. Xerneas represents Yggdrasil, or the tree that connects the Nine Realms, whereas Yveltal is similar to Nidhoggr, the dragon gnawing at Yggdrasil's roots, and Zygarde is inspired by Jormungandr, or the Midgard Serpent, one of Loki's monstrous children.

what about garatina distortion
rayquaisa sky
kiyrm fill truth and ideals

but what about that third legendary pokemon at gen 6?

:iconluma-girl:
luma-girl Featured By Owner Jan 19, 2013  Student Traditional Artist
Well, for purposes of comprehension I left out the third legends in my question. But you have a point.
Rayquaza embodies the sky- simply adding the 3rd part to the trio, land, sea, and sky.
Giratina embodies distortion- the disruption or lack of space and time. The distortion world shows this by ignoring these rules. floating platforms, differing gravity, solid objects appearing and dissappearing, timekeeping devices stopping and starting, as well as an absence of aging.
Kyurem embodies emptiness- literally a husk left behind when the original dragon split into Reshiram and Zekrom. It can "fill" its emptiness with either truth or ideals, but never both.
If my geuss is true about Xerneas' light, and Yveltal's darkness, the third could end up being in between, a disruptor, or both. I can't think of much more it could end up as with my guess.

Yeah, you're right about the third members of the trios being a balance between the two. ... And about Rayquaza being the odd one out in that it represents the sky compared to Kyogre representing the sea and Groudon representing land.

Fun fact; the trio was also inspired by three figures of Hebrew mythology; Behemoth (an enormous land-bound monster) Leviathan (some kind of aquatic monster, theorized to be derived from whale sightings) and Ziz (sky,) though the third is represented by a huge bird and is a little more obscure than the other two.

Actually, Giratina is meant to represent antimatter; it only lives in the 'distortion', or reverse, world, where everything is distorted or in reverse. The rest of what you said seems right, however, good job!
Reply
:iconrenee-niels:
Renee-Niels Featured By Owner Jun 8, 2015  Hobbyist Traditional Artist
Well, that's pretty much what antimatter is, the void in space that shouldn't exist but does despite the laws of nature, thus, distorting said laws.

... Though I may be way, WAAAAAAY off the mark~ |D;
