Yes, these are Nina's parents.In this universe, the Diamond events are canon and even now, Kynim (not Cynthia) holds the Sinnoh Champion title. Roark is....idk.

DISCLAIMER!!! PLEASE READ THIS: I DO NOT SHIP THIS PAIRING. Also in the games I don't even ship Roark with ANYONE. If you want my Roark crackships I kinda like him with Gardenia or Volkner DON'T JUDGE ME

If you hate this ship, I am totally okay with it. If you DO ship it, I am also okay with it! But first, hear me out. I do not even CONSIDER the nuzlocke protags part of my OC roster but this goes against my OC/canon pairing rejection reflex so bad I need this off my chest.

I also want to post this following vent because it is relevant to my run.

...Funny how I spend all this effort on a sub-oc.

I initially made this pairing as a JOKE. Yes, a JOKE. I really loved the clips of Byron in the anime and had set up the misogyny joke for that gym leader. Then I thought it would be hilarious if he found out his son got his ass kicked by a girl and then was dragged onto a date in the process. I pretty much played most of the Kynim/Roark interactions for laughs and eventually found some heart in myself to have some sentimental moments. But at that point, I was already going through my White run (after my initial HG rom that I would nuzlocke kept crashing too much for me to nuzlocke properly)....and I wanted to specifically have a protag that was an OFFSPRING of the Diamond run. The fact that Roark would be the dad was kinda incidental.

Why?

I just thought having a run starting with a character who was ridiculously priviledged (compared to your every-day trainer) but had her own problems dealing with the fact that her parents ARE really talented. Already she started off as a potentially bad and show-offy Sue yes, but given Kynim's especially volatile personality (established in Diamond), Nina did not have a very kind, normal childhood...at least that's what I tried to IMPLY in my so-far latest update #023.

Of course I can go on about her character but I will refrain them and hope that my later updates will show some more interesting things about Nina. By being a protag in a Pokemon game, it's a given she is a Sue, but hopefully she is not the bad kind and I hope the effort I made to do it shows.

...at least you got a subentertaining pokemon fanfic out of it, yes?

...I mean, after Nina sent her dad was friends with an archeologist, got sent a fossil, and is said to be away alot, I mildly considered that one gym leader...but Roark is actually her dad!? Awesome, and understandable.

Also, that lady terrifies me. Congrats.
